Hi, I just want to say that your blog is so lovely and feminine. I was also wondering whether you could recommend a few nice/calming candles for the house/bedrooms? I notice you have Diptyque candles in your previous posts. Do you purchase them here in Melbourne? Do you know if you can purchase them online for cheaper? And also what aromas do you recommend? Thank you. xx
I usually buy my candles when I travel overseas. While my favourite scents are available here in Melbourne for me to purchase, the retail prices of the candles are beyond ridiculous!
I’ve previously purchased 3 Diptyque candles online from Harrods when they sent me a 10% off promo code. I think each candle worked out to be just over $50AUD with the discount (while Mecca is charging $99). The only setback was the £25 for shipping but it still ended up being cheaper per candle than Mecca! I’d recommend purchasing your candles online so you can take full advantage of our strong Aussie dollar. I recently came across this US based website which stocks Diptyque candles for $60USD and shipping is only $24.95. It’ll work out really well if you intend on purchasing more than 1 item.
My favourite candle scents has always been Diptyque’s Baies, Figuier and Mimosa, Annick Gatoul’s Noel and Jo Malone’s Nectarine Blossom & Honey. If you like soft and calming aromas, I think you’d enjoy these.
I hope this helps and thank you for your kind sentiments about my blog :)
“The second surprise is how carefully edited Garance (Doré’s) closet is. Instead of bursting at the seams with frocks and fripperies, it’s a marvel of grown-up order and calm. “I’m not a crazy shopping person. I like classics with craftsmanship that will stay with me forever,” she explains. “I’m not into fast fashion,” she adds, preferring to wait for the perfect item to come her way. “Sometimes it takes me 10 years to own something. It’s like love. You want to let things grow on you.”—Closet Confidential: Garance Doré. Elle UK, March 2011. (via non—-sequitur)
